Announcement: ASAF Board Candidates Announced
41 candidates will campaign for two weeks, ending on 5 November 2024, followed by a week of anonymous voting. Members are urged to evaluate candidates based on inclusivity and representation.
We are excited to announce that the below ASAF members have applied for a place on the ASAF Board. After careful consideration, 51 members applied, with 41 members withdrawing their application. Now, the following candidates will move forward in the campaign:
Central Africa
Eastern Africa
Northern Africa
Southern Africa
Western Africa
These candidates will now begin their campaigns, which will run for two weeks, ending on 5 November 2024. This will also mark the start of the voting period, which will last for one week. Voting will be anonymous, with each ASAF member having the opportunity to cast their vote for a candidate in each of the five African regions, as defined by the African Union.
As voters, you have a crucial role in determining who should represent the ASAF community on the Board. We ask you to critically evaluate the candidates based on whether they are suitable for this role and if they represent the values and interests you envision for ASAF. Keep in mind the importance of inclusivity in regional distribution, gender balance, mobility programme experience, languages spoken, and other factors that will contribute to a diverse and representative Board.
Becoming a member of the ASAF Board is not only a great responsibility but also an opportunity to shape the future of ASAF. Board members are expected to act as role models for the community, which is why we encourage you, as AFSAF members, to review each candidate's completed profile in the ASAF online community. These profiles will provide insight into the candidates’ backgrounds, skills, and vision for the future of ASAF, helping you make an informed and conscientious decision. We also encourage you to review each candidate's e-flyer, which can be found on the community platform here. These will provide insight into the candidates' motivations, vision, skills, and the contributions they aim to bring as an ASAF Board member.
Take the time to review each candidate’s flyer, get to know their vision, and prepare to cast your vote. The future of ASAF is in your hands, and your decision matters.
Good luck to all candidates.
