Rules of Procedure voting results 2024
The ASAF members accepted, by a vast majority, the Rules of Procedure, bringing them into force and marking a significant milestone in ASAF’s development.
Since the ASAF Rules of Procedure took effect on the 30th of August 2022, they have guided the Network Board, Co-ambassadors, and the Committee on Mobility Programme, Diversity, and Inclusion elections. For the past two years, these rules have also governed the operations of ASAF's governing bodies and members. However, members called for some amendments before the next board is elected. The overall process for the amendment started at the last ASAF AGF in Nairobi with the consultation of different task forces and committees within the forum. The Internal Affairs Task Force (IA), with the support of the ASAF Board, consulted ASAF members through two online governance webinars held in English and French to collect suggestions for amendments. These suggested amendments were presented at a second governance webinar to members as a final step of consultation. The Internal Affairs Task Force, after this broad consultation with members, shared the final suggested amendments with the ASAF Board for review. The last step consisted of submitting the final amendments to the vote of all the ASAF members.
The voting process was organised through the Online Community and was open for three days, allowing all interested members to exercise their right to vote. An overwhelming 97.12% of the voters approved the final form of the documents, reflecting broad support for both the process and the content of the changes.
With these essential documents now adopted, ASAF has a well-defined working framework and can more effectively plan its future endeavours.
