Nigeria-EU Ministerial meeting on 18 November 2020: focus on education and mobility
The seventh ministerial meeting between the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the European Union (EU) took place on 18 November 2020 in virtual format in Brussels and Abuja
The outcome of this meeting hold encouraging statements for exchange programmes such as Erasmus+ as they are focusing on education and mobility. In the following, please find an excerpt from the meeting’s joint statements:
“Nigeria and the European Union (EU) noted the importance of education for inclusive economic and social advancement, in particular for women and girls, in a joint Communiqué issued following a virtual bilateral meeting held at ministerial level on 18 November 2020 in Abuja and Brussels.
Both Nigeria and the EU intend to further support the development of digital education through individual learning mobility and institutional capacity building schemes. The EU also welcomed Nigeria’s participation in pilot initiatives to foster technical and vocational education and training, especially for the youth. Both Nigeria and the EU acknowledged the need to ensure a greater sustainability of such initiatives.”
