The celebration of African Union Day, or Africa Day, is observed annually on 25th May to commemorate the founding of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) on 25th May 1963. The African Union, in its description of the Africa We Want, emphasises the need for well-educated citizens and skills revolutions underpinned by science, technology, and innovation to achieve "A prosperous Africa based on inclusive growth and sustainable development." Quality education, as emphasised in AU-EU collaboration frameworks, of which ASAF is an example, is crucial to this goal. ASAF Ghana members took part in the Africa Day celebrations at the University of Education Winneba on 25th May 2023. The event attracted members of civil society, academia, the press, policymakers, and other key stakeholders. The discussions focused on governance issues in Ghana and Africa and their implications for sustainable development.
