ASAF Co-Ambassadors Training in Cotonou
The Co-Ambassadors training took place in Cotonou, Benin, on 5 September 2024, focusing on ‘Co-Ambassadors leadership on the national level in ASAF context’. It was facilitated by Maddalena Bearzotti and attended by 36 Co-Ambassadors from 31 African countries.
The training was opened by the ASAF Board members who made a welcome speech and thanked the participants for their presence and efforts.
Misheck Samakao, ASAF Board Member, and Margaret James, from the Erasmus+ Support Service Team, outlined the essential role of the Co-Ambassadors and changes from the 2024 intake.
Maddalena Bearzotti then launched the training programme with an ice-breaking activity with the Co-Ambassadors. Co-Ambassadors were encouraged to interact in groups and share their most significant experiences throughout their mandates. This exercise was mainly aimed at improving active listening skills while the speaker shared insights about their mandates.
The next session invited Co-Ambassador groups to co-create a video hackathon, summarising good practices and lessons. This also provided an opportunity to exemplify leadership potential by working in these diversified groups.
The Co-Ambassadors excelled by creating beautiful videos that showcased various types of leadership and teamwork.
The focus on leadership continued with discussions around challenges faced using the ‘intervision method’ that is designed to improve practice and decision-making skills.
Once the training was concluded, participants were handed certificates of completion.
