The ASAF Board gathered in Mauritius for a two-day event focused on enhancing governance and strategic planning. The Board Management Training, held on 28 February 2025 at the Holiday Inn, Mon Trésor, Mauritius, aimed to equip board members with essential leadership skills. Participants engaged in sessions on vision and mission development, governance principles, decision-making structures, and ethical leadership. The training concluded with a certification ceremony.

On 1 March 2025, the ASAF Board Meeting took place at the same venue. Board members reviewed key updates, discussed upcoming initiatives, and addressed organisational matters. The meeting included presentations from board members about the activities of their relevant committees and task forces, insights from the European Commission on alumni network developments, and planning for future ASAF activities, including the Annual Work Plan for July 2025 – July 2026 and preparations for the Annual General Forum.

Unfortunately, due to the cyclone that hit Mauritius and the temporary closure of the airport, some board members were unable to travel to the event. Despite these challenges, they actively participated in the meeting online, ensuring their contributions to discussions and decision-making.

The events reinforced ASAF’s commitment to effective governance, fostering collaboration among members, and shaping the future direction of the network. Discussions also covered pending issues and next steps, ensuring continuous progress toward ASAF’s mission. With strong participation—both in person and remotely—and productive dialogue, the gathering proved instrumental in strengthening the Board’s capacity and strategic focus for the coming year.
