What happened?
ASAF at the Africa Music, Arts, and Cultural Exhibition 2023
Board Members Juliet Kasozzi, Misheck Samakao, Imane Benrabiaa as well as Zambia Co-Ambassador Anthony Simbeya along with member Mutinta Hamubotu were present at the Africa Music, Arts, and Cultural Exhibition which took place in Lusaka, Zambia between the 20th and 22nd of June 2023, and was organised by the All-Africa Students Union (AASU).
The All-Africa Students Union (AASU) in collaboration with various relevant stakeholders in Zambia organised the Africa Music, Arts, and Cultural Exhibition which took place in Lusaka, Zambia at Mulungushi International Conference Centre between the 20th and 22nd of June 2023.
On the 20th of June, ASAF President Imane Benrabiaa participated in the event as a speaker who contributed to the opening of the event with a solidarity remark among other student organisations from all over the world which consolidated ASAF’s relations with AASU and put ASAF’s name further out there. On the 21st of June, ASAF also had an information desk where Juliet Kasozzi, Misheck Samakao, and Imane Benrabiaa increased ASAF’s visibility and promoted various mobility scholarships, Vice President Juliet aptly mobilised people to visit the desk and piqued their interest regarding ASAF while Liaison Officer for Capacity Development Misheck and Imane explained what ASAF is about and shed light on the various mobility programs that students could apply to and how.
Furthermore, on the 21st of June, Imane Benrabiaa contributed as a speaker to the session regarding “Creative Education and Human Capital Development” along with other qualified individuals who highlighted the importance of creativity as a part of education and the manners that can be used in order for creativity to be a part of learning and how it can improve and increase employability.
On the 22nd of June, Liaison Officer for Capacity Building Misheck Samako along with Vice President for Mobility, Diversity, and Inclusion Juliet Kasozzi utilised the morning to network with other student organisations worldwide and find common ground for collaboration and cooperation.
In between the various sessions and activities in the entire event, all ASAF members present at the event including Anthony Simbeya and Mutinta Hamubotu diligently networked and built ties with all the stakeholders present, whether people active in activism, politics, arts, culture, among other fields.
To conclude, it was definitely a beneficial event for ASAF as it made ASAF’s identity and value clear to people and led individuals and organisations from various fields to wonder about mobility programs and ask about them to this day.
